E’ la vettura che ha segnato il nuovo corso dell’Alfa Romeo dopo del secondo dopoguerra. Progettata sotto la direzione dell’Ing. Orazio Satta Puliga con questa vettura il Biscione propone una vettura media che possa intercettare una ampia fascia di mercato. Debutt\u00c3\u00b2 al Salone di Parigi del 1950.
\nLa 1900 \u00c3\u00a8 stata prodotta nello storico stabilimento Alfa Romeo del Portello a Milano.
\nEra dotata di un motore con quattri cilindri a valvole in testa, con distribuzione a doppio albero comandata da una catena, la testa \u00c3\u00a8 in lega leggera; questa vettura \u00c3\u00a8 la prima Alfa Romeo ad essere dotata di scocca integrata con il telaio. Per la sospensione anteriore l’Ing. Giuseppe Busso (progettista dei gruppi meccanici) opt\u00c3\u00b2 per lo schema con quadrilateri trasversali, molle ad elica e ammortizzatori telescopici, comune ormai a molti tipi di vetture. La sospensione posteriore era completamente inedita. Il ponte rigido con coppia conica ipoide, molle ad elica e ammortizzatori tubolari era collegato longitudinalmente al telaio tramite due puntoni di duralluminio che applicavano al telaio delle spinte anticoricanti in curva. Sono stati prodotti in totale 17.243 esemplari dal 1950 al 1959.<\/p>\n
