Progettata sotto la direzione dell&#8217;Ing. Orazio Satta Puliga con questa vettura il Biscione propone una vettura media che possa intercettare una ampia fascia di mercato. Debutt\u00c3\u00b2 al Salone di Parigi del 1950.<br \/>\nLa 1900 \u00c3\u00a8 stata prodotta nello storico stabilimento Alfa Romeo del Portello a Milano.<br \/>\nEra dotata di un motore con quattri cilindri a valvole in testa, con distribuzione a doppio albero comandata da una catena, la testa \u00c3\u00a8 in lega leggera; questa vettura \u00c3\u00a8 la prima Alfa Romeo ad essere dotata di scocca integrata con il telaio. Per la sospensione anteriore l&#8217;Ing. Giuseppe Busso (progettista dei gruppi meccanici) opt\u00c3\u00b2 per lo schema con quadrilateri trasversali, molle ad elica e ammortizzatori telescopici, comune ormai a molti tipi di vetture. La sospensione posteriore era completamente inedita. Il ponte rigido con coppia conica ipoide, molle ad elica e ammortizzatori tubolari era collegato longitudinalmente al telaio tramite due puntoni di duralluminio che applicavano al telaio delle spinte anticoricanti in curva.
